2019 TBR Pile Challenge

TBR2019RBRbutton

I didn’t manage to finish my TBR challenge last year (I went back to school kind of unexpectedly and it derailed some things), but I’m going to try again this year with the 2019 TBR Pile Challenge at Roof Beam Reader. As of right now, I have 784 books on my TBR (yikes!), and it’s time to start whittling down that pile!

Here are the details: Pick 12 books (plus 2 alternates) from your to-be-read (TBR) list to read in 2019. The books must have been on your list longer than 1 year, so they can’t have been published in 2018. As each book is read, write a review of the book and link it to your original post.

Here’s my list:

  1. The Other Side of Infamy: My Journey Through Pearl Harbor and the World of War – finished 15 May 19
  2. Jesus in Trinitarian Perspective: An Introductory Christology
  3. Surprised by Oxford – finished 2 June
  4. Night Driving: Notes from a Prodigal Soul
  5. Christian Women in the Patristic World: Their Influence, Authority, and Legacy in the Second through Fifth Centuries
  6. The Underground Railroad
  7. The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland – finished 29 Jan
  8. The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion
  9. Between Noon & Three: Romance, Law & the Outrage of Grace
  10. The Girl on the Train – finished 16 Feb
  11. Long Way Gone – finished 25 Jan
  12. Union with Christ: The Way to Know and Enjoy God

Alternates:

  1. The Prestige
  2. In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex

  1. Your list looks intriguing! I read Surpised by Oxford last year and enjoyed it. It was not at all what i expected, but still quite good.
